Research and Scholarship Grants (RSCA)
The Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (RSCA) Grant Program provides internal funding to support faculty research, scholarship, and creative activity. These awards are intended as seed funding to help launch new projects, develop preliminary data, or advance work toward external funding and scholarly outputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I am working with human subjects on my RSCA project, do I need IRB approval?
Yes. If your project involves human subjects research, you must submit a protocol and receive IRB approval before beginning research activities or collecting data.

Can I purchase items on my own for my project and expect to be reimbursed?
This is strongly discouraged. Because campus and CSU rules restrict certain purchases, reimbursement cannot be guaranteed. Approved budget items may be purchased through your department P-Card, and other purchases may need to go through Procurement. Contact ORSP before making purchases if you have questions.
