DATA SCIENCE
What we offer in Data Science
At CSU East Bay, our Department of Statistics & Data Science provides students with accessible, high-quality pathways into one of today's most in-demand fields. With smaller class sizes (approximately 35 students at the undergraduate level and 25 at the graduate level), our students benefit from individualized attention and strong faculty support.
We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Bachelor of Science in Data Science, which features innovative courses in Data Ethics and a culminating Capstone Experience where students apply their skills to real-world projects. Our programs are strengthened by high alumni engagement, connecting current students with professionals in the field for mentorship, networking, and career opportunities.
Across both undergraduate and graduate levels, we offer a wide range of data science-focused courses, including:
- R for Data Science
- Python for Data Science
- Data Visualization
- statistical Learning & Predictive Modeling
- Training and Test Data
- Statistical Natural Language Processing
- Applied Deep Learning
- Time Series
- Bayesian Statistics
Whether you choose the BS in Data Science, the BS in Statistics (Data Science Concentration), or a Minor in Data Science, you'll gain applied, hands-on experience in statistical and computational methods.
For graduate students, the MS in Statistics (Data Science Option) is designed for both continuing students and working professionals. Flexible afternoon and evening classes make it possible to complete the degree in as little as three semesters, or at a steady pace over two years. Students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds--including those new to the field, career changers, and even retired professionals--are welcome.
At CSU East Bay, we value curiosity, inclusivity, and applied learning. We invite you to explore our programs and become part of the Department of Statistics & Data Science.
