Department of Statistics and Data Science

DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS

Welcome to the department!

We are now the Department of Statistics & Data Science!  This name change reflects our commitment to preparing students for the future of data-driven discovery.

Launching this year: our new Bachelor of Science in Data Science program,  designed to equip students with the statistical, computational, and analytical skills needed to thrive in a data-rich world.

We are also introducing 4+1 Pathways,  enabling students to complete both a Bachelor's degree and a Master of Science in Statistics in just five years.

Together, these initiatives highlight our dedication to innovation, excellence , and student success in the rapidly growing fields of statistics and data science.

We invite you to explore our programs, connect with our community, and become part of the Department of Statistics & Data Science.

We had a blast at the 3rd Annual Data Fest!

The 3rd Annual Data Fest hosted by the Department of Statistics and Data Science - in partnership with the American Statistical Association (ASA) – was a success with over 45 students from different departments and Skyline community college. With some amazing mentorship and hard work, students learned data wrangling on an entirely different level.

DataFest is a celebration of data in which teams of undergraduate & graduate students work around the clock to find and share meaning in a large, rich, and complex data set.

A special shout out to Professor Eric Fox for leading the efforts in hosting the event.

Best in Show - Nikolas Perez Linggi, Krishiv Haranath, Dhwanil Ranpura

Best Insight - Suritaneil Sahota, Hector Pena, Matthew Baker, Bryan Ramirez, Steven Cheum

Best Use of Statistical Analysis - Ashish, Evan Nagesh, Pranav Parameswaran, Parth Bhagwat

Best Visualization - Prabhjyot Grewal, Daniel Padilla, Shrusthi HC
