Undergraduate Programs

The undergraduate programs in the College of Health prepare students to make a lasting impact in healthcare, wellness, and community service through a forward-thinking, evidence-based curriculum. The college offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology, Nursing, Public Health, Health Sciences, and Speech-Language PathologyIn addition to the Bachelor of Science degrees, CSU East Bay now offers a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)! Students also have the opportunity to pursue a or the Physical Education Single Subject Preparation pathway for teaching credentials. Guided by expert faculty and dedicated advisors, students build a foundation in health theory and applied practice while customizing their studies to align with career goals in clinical care, health promotion, policy, and allied health professions.

B.S. Kinesiology

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology equips students for dynamic careers in fitness, exercise science, and allied health professions. The program’s mission is to develop knowledgeable, ethical, and multidisciplinary professionals dedicated to promoting physical activity and well-being. Students explore the scientific and social foundations of sport, exercise, and health while applying this knowledge to real-world contexts such as coaching, fitness instruction, and performance enhancement. Through innovative coursework and experiential learning, students are encouraged to think critically, lead with creativity, and inspire healthy, active communities.

 

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health embodies the core mission and values of the Department by preparing students to address today’s most pressing health challenges through education, research, and community engagement. The program equips students with foundational competencies in public health, including the application of evidence-based theories, models, and methods to tackle both persistent and emerging health issues. Designed for rapid entry into the growing public health workforce, the degree offers abundant opportunities for professional advancement and meaningful social impact. 

 

 

 

B.S.W. (Social Work)

The Department of Social Work at ÍÑ¿ã°É Bay is excited to announce the launch of the new Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program! This innovative program provides students with a strong foundation in social work practice, advocacy, and community engagement—preparing them to serve diverse populations across the Bay Area and beyond. This new program has been made possible through a Social Work Education Capacity Expansion Grant from the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI). Focused on educating and empowering communities across the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, the BSW program reflects ÍÑ¿ã°É Bay’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and social impact.

B.S. Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is designed to prepare compassionate, skilled nurse generalists who provide safe, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care to individuals and communities across diverse backgrounds. The curriculum integrates professional nursing education with a strong foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, fostering graduates who are both competent clinicians and well-rounded citizens. Students may choose between Pre-Licensure and Post-Licensure (RN to BSN) pathways, each tailored to meet the needs of aspiring nurses and licensed professionals seeking career advancement in today’s evolving healthcare landscape.

 

The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Whether pursuing clinical pathways such as medicine, nursing, physician assistant, or other allied health professions, or exploring broader issues in population and community health, students work closely with advisors to design a program that supports their personal and professional aspirations. Health Sciences examines human health from a population-based perspective, emphasizing health equity, social justice, and the complex ways in which physical, social, and political environments shape well-being.

 

B.S. Speech-Language Pathology 

The Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology is a dynamic clinical profession dedicated to the prevention, assessment, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Practitioners work with children and adults to address challenges related to speech, language, hearing, cognition, and swallowing, thereby improving communication skills and overall quality of life. Graduates pursue diverse career paths in healthcare, education, research, public service, higher education, and private practice. Rooted in evidence-based, ethical, and culturally responsive care, the field integrates scientific research with compassionate practice.
