About Writing@CSUEB
Writing@CSUEB serves the wider ÍÑ¿ã°É Bay community by providing a centralized location for policies and materials related to writing instruction. This website is maintained by the Writing Subcommittee (WS), which is overseen by the Committee on Instruction and Curriculum (CIC), a standing committee of ÍÑ¿ã°É Bay's Academic Senate.

About the Writing Subcommittee
The Writing Subcommittee's charge is to review matters pertaining to the University Writing Requirement (UWR), second composition, and writing instruction components of General Education (GE) Area IB (critical thinking and composition). This work includes supporting associated policies, procedures, and curriculum including, but not limited to, the approval of courses meeting these campus-wide breadth requirements. Our charge may expand based on campus needs.
The WS membership includes representatives from all academic colleges and the University Library; the lecturer electorate; the coordinators of GE, composition, and Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) programs; faculty with knowledge of multilingual writing; the Student Center for Academic Achievement; and CIC membership.
The Writing Subcommittee meets biweekly on Zoom in fall and spring semesters, once membership is approved by CIC and the Executive Committee in early September each year. Click on the Writing Subcommittee page on the CIC/Academic Senate page to view current WS membership, meeting times, agendas, minutes, and more.
