Faculty Position
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is currently recruiting for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2026. Specialization is open, with preference for candidates whose teaching and research align with one or more of the following areas: speech science, voice, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, cognitive-communication, or linguistic and cultural diversity. Teaching will be primarily on the Hayward campus. We seek a collaborative scholar-teacher committed to inclusive excellence and to supporting our diverse student community. Lecturers
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences maintains a pool of speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech scientists who express interest in teaching part time. Qualification requirements include Ph.D. or Master’s degree in communication disorders, and academic and practical expertise. University teaching experience is preferred. CA State License & Board Certification by ASHA in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology is preferred.

Clinical Supervisor Positions
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences invites speech, language and hearing professionals to apply as part time hourly Clinical Supervisors in the Rees Speech, Hearing, and Language Clinic. Supervisors must be licensed by the State of California, and must hold the appropriate certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Bilingual supervisors are highly encouraged to apply.

Student Assistant Positions
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences hires students each semester for a variety of positions including Instructional Student Assistant, Student Assistant, and Research Assistant. Students interested in working as an Instructional Student Assistant must have already taken and passed the course and provide a letter of interest to the instructor of the course. Students interested in working with a faculty member in their lab must reach out to the faculty member directly. All students working in the department must be current and enrolled students.
