Greg Jennings, PhD
Educational Psychology Department Chair, Professor, & Interim CCC Director
Dr. Jennings’ research and professional interests are in youth’s resiliency, the marked capacity of individuals to cope with and overcome setbacks and stressors. He has presented nationally on strength-based consultation. Dr. Jennings has taught courses in mental health consultation, individual development, assessment, delivery of school psychology services, and supervision. He consults school districts throughout the Bay Area.
Kristin Porter, LMFT
Professor & Clinical Supervisor
Kristin Porter, LMFT is a multi-faceted, versatile, and integrative trauma-informed therapist working with individuals, couple, and families for over 20 years. She is experienced in Mindfulness Meditation and Facilitation, Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, Healing Shame, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and The Comprehensive Resource Model. Kristin began supervising School Psychology, Counseling and MFT students/ trainees at CSUEB in 2010. She has been in ongoing trauma-informed consultation with Rachel Walker for over 5 years and continues to be a Facilitator for Ms. Walker’s “At the Crossroads of Trauma Therapy” Workshops. Kristin is also in ongoing consultation for Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Trauma Informed Therapy.
John A Barakos, MA, LMFT
Professor & Clinical Supervisor
John A Barakos is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with 20 years experience in private practice. He has 12 years of experience in school based mental health as a contracted counselor for school districts. He has experience in the in-patient mental health field and taken part in community presentations on issues affecting youth in our communities. He specializes in treatment with at-risk adolescents, treatment resistant clients and work with crisis issues. He has been a Clinical Supervisor for 8 years at both John F. Kennedy University and ÍÑ¿ã°É Bay. He is a professor and teaches Psychopharmacology, Crisis in Schools, Assessment and Practicum. He is passionate about facilitating student’s education from a real world perspective and helping the field evolve with a diverse perspective.
Natalie Burger, NCSP, ABSNP, LMFT, LEP, RPT
Clinical Supervisor
Natalie is a credentialed School Psychologist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, American Board of School Neuropsychology Diplomate, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Educational Psychologist, and Registered Play Therapist. Natalie is a returning graduate of the School Psychology/MFT program at CSUEB. Her experience includes providing psychoeducational assessments, individual and group counseling services, crisis management, and consultation services. Natalie has experience working in private practice settings as an LMFT. She currently works as a School Psychologist in the West Contra Costa USD and provides supervision to CSUEB School Psychology Trainees.
Oanh Tran, PhD
Professor & Clinical Supervisor
Dr. Tran has experience working with diverse and at-risk populations in public and nonpublic schools as well as residential, foster care, outpatient, and in-home settings. Dr. Tran's research and professional interests include promoting social and emotional learning, academic and behavioral consultation and assessment, special education, response to intervention, positive behavioral supports, and parent-training. She has presented locally and nationally and has published articles, chapters, and prevention curricula in the area of children's mental health. Dr. Tran collaborates with schools and communities to enhance academic and emotional learning for K-12 students. She also coordinates the School Psychology with MFT program.
Mark Purcell, PhD
Professor & Clinical Supervisor
Dr. Purcell is a practicing Psychologist specializing in therapy with teens and their families. He has worked extensively in community mental health as a supervisor, trainer, and developed innovative programs for high-risk youth. He has published self-help books for teens and classroom curriculum integrating mindfulness-based interventions (e.g., DBT) with Social Emotional Learning (SEL). His current research focuses on developing and implementing these approaches in school and community-based settings. He is excited to share his experience as a supervisor and program coordinator with the CCC.
