Work Request Service Expectations

This expectation guide provides general delivery timelines and frequencies for services. Response to emergencies may impact these timelines and frequencies.

Priority Levels

Custodial Cleaning Frequency and Expectations

  • Daily Tasks

    • Empty waste receptacles, replace soiled with correct color liners, clean receptacles if needed and dispose of all waste.
    • Sweep floors, remove debris from behind doors, in corners, and around furniture
    • Vacuum carpets/floors if needed; Mop hard surface floors and spot clean carpets as needed to remove spills/stains
    • Straighten up chairs as needed around conference tables and ensure chairs are in straight rows in classrooms
    • Remove graffiti from desks, tables, walls, and doors. Clean whiteboards and chalkboards

    Weekly Tasks

    • Spot wash walls and doors, clean spills and other messes, clean around light switches as needed.
    • Clean wash basins, utility sinks, chalkboards, and whiteboards, etc.
    • Dust/clean all building surfaces for cobwebs, dirt, i.e. walls, ledges, window sills, vents, blinds, etc.
    • Thoroughly dust clean and disinfect cleared flat surfaces, desks, and tables and student desks. Vacuum carpets/floors.

    Quarterly Tasks

    • Clean and disinfect waste receptacles.

    Annual Tasks

    • Strip and apply floor finish for hard surfaces and shampoo carpets (More frequently maybe a charge to dept.)
  • Daily Tasks

    • Empty waste receptacles and dispose of contents in outside bins, replace soiled liners with correct color liners, clean receptacles if needed.
    • Vacuum/clean up spills and debris from office floors.

    Weekly Tasks

    • Sweep floors, remove debris from behind doors, in corners and around furniture.
    • Mop hard surface floors, spot clean carpet, removing spills/stains.
    • Vacuum carpets/floors (thoroughly removing debris from behind doors, in corners and around furniture.

    Monthly Tasks

    • Thoroughly dust, clean and disinfect cleared flat surfaces, desks, and tables. (note: custodians will not clean/dust bookshelves, books, printers, telephones, natural or artificial plants, or water natural plants.)
    • Spot wash walls and doors, clean around light switches as needed.
    • Dust/clean all building surfaces for cobwebs, dirt, i.e. walls, ledges, window sills, air grills, vents, blinds, etc.

    Quarterly Tasks

    • Clean and disinfect waste receptacles

    Bi-Annual Tasks

    • Strip and apply floor finish to hard surfaces and shampoo carpets (if requested).
  • Daily Tasks

    • Complete a full-scale cleaning of restrooms. Disinfect wash basins, urinals. commodes, waste receptacles, and dispensers. Sweep and mop floors. Pour fresh water into floor drains.
    • Damp wipe doors, walls and partitions. Remove graffiti. Clean mirrors and bright metal surfaces.
    • Empty all waste and sanitary products receptacles and replace soiled liners with correct color liners.
    • Replenish soap and all paper supplies.
    • Check restrooms near end of shift and clean as needed, ensure all waste is emptied and all paper items restocked.

    Monthly Tasks

    • Spray clean/disinfect walls, stalls, fixtures, scrub restroom floors, pour enzyme solution into floor drains.
  • Daily Tasks

    • Clean drinking fountains.
    • Clean up spills, stains and debris. Dust mop lobbies and hallways.
    • Remove pamphlets, circulars, and flyers from walls and glass surfaces, unless posted on department managed bulletin boards.

    Weekly Tasks

    • Sweep and spot mop interior stairs and landings.
    • Remove gum from lobbies, hallways and stairwells.
    • Dust and clean metal railings and fire extinguishers; clean and disinfect handrails.

    Monthly Tasks

    • Buff hallway floors using floor restorer with high-speed or ultra high-speed floor machine.

    Quarterly Tasks

    • ÍÑ¿ã°É a coat of floor finish and buff hard surfaces (lobbies and corridors).
    • Spot clean carpeted areas.

    Annual Tasks

    • Strip and apply floor finish for hard surfaces and shampoo carpet if needed.
  • Daily Tasks

    • Sweep building entrances, remove dust, spider webs from walls, ceiling, corners inside and outside entrance.
    • Vacuum entry mats.
    • Clean entry glass doors and walls.

    Quarterly Tasks

    • Wash down floors, exterior stairs and landings, remove gum.
  • Daily Tasks

    • Spot wash walls and doors inside and out of elevator cleaning spills, fingerprints and other messes; clean around call buttons.
    • Sweep and mop hard surface floors and vacuum carpet, removing spills/stains as needed.

    Weekly Tasks

    • Completely clean elevator tracks.
  • Daily Tasks

    • Empty waste receptacles, replace soiled with correct color liners, clean receptacles if needed and dispose of all waste.
    • Sweep floors, remove debris from behind doors, in corners and around furniture.
    • Straighten up tables and chairs as needed.
    • Remove graffiti from desks, tables, walls, and doors.
    • Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops and tables

    Weekly Tasks
